Tipping vendors is expected and proper. Below is a sample letter I send each of my clients five weeks before their big day.
Tipping Vendors
Hi Groom and Bride, you are almost there, just 5 more weeks! This is a guideline for tipping on your wedding day. Please note that this is only a guideline, feel free to add or delete where you see fit. All amounts can be sent to me to distribute during your event.
Note that highlighted/italic items do not apply for your event.

Vendor Type Guidelines Tip amount
Hairstylist/Makeup 15-20% $
Limo drivers 15-20% or $30 each $
Delivery & setup staff $10-$15 each $
Florist $150-$250 total to divide among staff $
Officiant $50-100 $
Ceremony site $100; $500 if they do not charge you $
Wedding coordinator 15% or up to $500 $
Music: Ceremony 10-15% or $25 each musician $
Music: Band & DJs 15%, but not over $50 per person $
Banquet Manager $100-$200 $
Banquet Captain (onsite) $50 - $150 $
Waitstaff/Bartenders $25-$35 each $
Baker $100-$200 total to divide among staff $
Photographer $50-$200 total to divide among staff $
Videographer $50-$200 total to divide among staff $
Restroom attendants $1 each guest $
Coatroom attendants $1 each guest (dependent on weather) $
